2013 Nails

Nail Predictions 2013

2012 was a great year for nails, we literally saw everything; ombre, cracked effect, twists on the classic French manicure and were introduced to magnetic nails, an amazing technology that expanded the world of nail art. Colours were magnificent, we were treated to some spectacular bright bold colours, such as those in the NARS Thakoon collaboration but also some lovely neutral tones came on the scene, which were heavily featured in Essie’s Fall collection.

But what will 2013 hold?!

Colours

Emerald is going to be a big hit, after being named Pantone’s colour of the year, everyone will want their nails a shimmering green.

Nudes and Neutrals still remain a classic look, but will be rivaled by soft pastel yellows.

Mango Orange and Hot Pink, 2013 will also see the return of the bold and beautiful, with a new orange set to be a summer favourite.

Art Trends

Matte finishes, from full nails to tips; matte is set to be the number 1 trend this spring.

Colour Blocks, last year we had to half-moon this year it is a very simple yet effective look.

Caviar Nail, as exquisite as it sounds, luxury for nails.

Diagonal Tips, French Manicures must be old news as this year it seems any tip other than the traditional white is in.

And finally, predicted to be 2013’s hottest trend…Leather Nails. I’m not too sure what I think about this yet, currently Nails Inc have a set that comes with mini skulls and bones, but I am excited to see how people use it.

Hello 2013

Not sure if one week into January is too late to start making resolutions? But this has definitely inspired me!

I had such an amazing 2012, there were so many highlights and i made some unforgettable memories, i also embarked on my quest to travel the world! It already seems like this year has lots of exciting things ahead; a new house, wedding, more travelling and of course enjoying the new semester at university! It's always important to remember to do what makes us happy, especially when it's so easy to become stressed.

SMILE :)
